Nepal and Nepali language, both very fascinating!

I am Shreeya, an Applied AI Scientist by training. I am passionate about building tools and technologies for Nepali, my native language.

My work focuses on low-resource NLP. I am also interested in developing speech technologies for Nepali language. I am currently building Kaanchi - a S2ST for Nepali. The goal is to develop a system that will work in low-connectivity regions of Nepal. My mother is my motivation behind Kaanchi, I want to build a system that will help people like her converse in English.

Currently, I am training an automatic speech recognition model for Nepali and documenting the process at #icodeformyभाषा. Alongside it I take on smaller hardware and UI projects, mostly around Nepal and the Nepali language. I am a pet parent to Tama (my Aussidoodle) and Dusk (my American Shorthair). On weekends, you will find me in the mountains or some alpine lake.
